Varsity Coaching Staff
Jake Goossen-Brown
Head Coach
Coach Jake Goossen-Brown, or “Coach Goose” as he is known to his players, is a 2006 graduate of Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks, CA where he was a member of the 2004 CIF Division III Championship team where he helped lead the Knights to an 80-45 record and four league championships. While attending Cal State University Northridge, Coach Goossen-Brown returned to his alma mater joining the football staff led by his former coach, and all-time great, Kevin Rooney. Goossen-Brown coached both the offensive and defensive lines at NDHS, spending twelve years with the Knights. After completing his bachelor’s degree in Health Science and earning a master’s in Exercise Science and Athletic Administration, Coach Goose took a teaching job at St Genevieve High School before eventually taking over as head varsity football coach at Morro Bay High School. In only three years with the Pirates, Goossen-Brown led Morro Bay High School to its first CIF-Central Section Division Six Championship in over twenty-five years, marking a historic season that also included a CIF Southern Regional Division 7AA victory and CIF State Division 7AA runner-up in 2021. Goossen-Brown is entering his 19th year of coaching and most recently was at Hueneme High School for one season, but when a teaching position at the school was unable to be secured, he jumped at the opportunity to join the Hart community. When not coaching, Coach Goose likes to spend time with his family; parents Tom, a hall of fame boxing promoter and former college football coach, mom Sandi, whose footsteps Coach followed into teaching, brothers Josh, a 2014 MLB draft pick and current Arizona Diamondbacks pitching coach, Justin, a current professional baseball player with the Washington Wild Things, and sisters Brittany, a boxing executive and 2023 World Boxing Council’s Woman of the Year and Riley, an all-league soccer standout at Cal Baptist University. Coach looks forward to building upon the greatness and continuing the legacy of the program at Hart using the great game of football to help student-athletes find wins, and successes, both on and off the field and becoming a member of this winning tradition.
